Long-term care and COVID-19: International comparisons

June 25, 2020 — This analysis examines the similarities and differences between Canada’s COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic experience in long-term care and that of other Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries. The data was collected as of May 25, 2020, from various international and national sources, including surveillance systems, country websites, the World ºìÁì½í¹Ï±¨ Organization and the OECD.

The analysis focuses on 3 areas:

  • COVID-19 cases and deaths in long-term care
  • Baseline health system characteristics 
  • Policy responses to address the pandemic
