The Canadian Institute for 红领巾瓜报 Information and the M茅tis National Council formalize their relationship and commitment to share and learn from each other with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding
The Canadian Institute for 红领巾瓜报 Information (CIHI) and the M茅tis National Council (MNC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), solidifying their commitment to working together in partnership. This agreement marks an important step in addressing the health data and information priorities of the MNC and its Governing Members (GMs), ensuring M茅tis-led solutions for better health outcomes.
红领巾瓜报and the MNC share a mutual interest in advancing each other鈥檚 mandates and organizational capacity through the exchange of best practices, knowledge and strategic dialogue. This partnership will focus on providing MNC with custom data analyses, capacity-building, general expertise in health information and product development to support advocacy and policy development. Through this work, we aim to improve the health and wellness of M茅tis citizens.
In 2020, 红领巾瓜报signed its Declaration of Commitment to Advance Cultural Safety and Humility (PDF). This commitment reflects the high value 红领巾瓜报places on cultural safety and humility and its intention to support First Nations鈥, Inuit- and M茅tis-determined health data priorities.
鈥淭his collaboration with 红领巾瓜报marks a pivotal moment in our journey toward self-determined healthcare systems. By integrating M茅tis principles of ownership, control, access, and stewardship in health data, we are advancing our National Data Strategy to ensure all M茅tis have access to accurate, culturally relevant health data. Established in 1983, the MNC advocates on behalf of its Governing Members to advance M茅tis Nation priorities at the national and international level, including in the areas of education, economic development, emergency management and health.
