Courses available to all users

The following are mandatory prerequisites for analysts enrolling in the online Guided Practice Building Portal Reports course:

  • Clinical Administrative Databases: Introduction to CIHI’s NACRS, DAD and HMDB Databases (2 hours, available in French and English)
  • ºìÁì½í¹Ï±¨Portal: Introduction to the NRS (1 hour)
  • ºìÁì½í¹Ï±¨Portal: Introduction to the CMDB (1 hour)

Training for analysts: 1090E — Guided Practice Building Portal Reports

Whether you’re new to CIHI’s Portal eReporting tool and looking for practice and guidance building reports, or an experienced user who wants to refresh your knowledge of a particular functionality, this course is for you!

You’ll work through 12 realistic exercises, some in several parts. Each is designed to help you learn how to use Portal to perform your own analyses while using all of the tool’s key features and capabilities.

In the exercises, you’ll learn how to use basic and complex functions or refresh your memory on some details. They serve as great examples of how you can leverage Portal in your work. And you can complete them at your own pace.

Step-by-step instructions and videos give you guidance and let you check your work to make sure you’ve built the reports correctly.

Web conferences

In January, March, May, September and November, Portal Services offers an education session via Adobe Connect. Ask questions and hear responses about data, Portal features and other relevant topics.

These sessions are called User Community meetings. User Community meetings are open to all Portal users (IC, A). Analyst users can also book one-on-one time directly following the Adobe Connect session with a Portal senior analyst for analytical assistance. (A)

No advanced registration is required for these client forums. These forums are held on the last Wednesday of each month. A notification will be sent to you, via email, two weeks prior to every session. The Portal team welcomes suggestions for topics or questions of interest for discussion at these sessions.
